Welcome to Sheron Rent A Car. By accessing our website, making a booking, or using our car rental services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. These terms govern the rental of vehicles from Sheron Rent A Car, a service based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. We recommend reading them carefully before proceeding with any reservation. Sheron Rent A Car reserves the right to amend these terms at any time, with changes effective upon posting on our website.

1. General Provisions

  • These Terms and Conditions apply to all rentals, whether self-drive or chauffeur-driven, and supersede any prior agreements.
  • All rentals are subject to availability and confirmation by Sheron Rent A Car.
  • The renter must comply with all applicable laws and regulations in Sri Lanka, including road traffic rules.
  • Sheron Rent A Car may refuse service to any individual at its discretion, without providing a reason.

2. Eligibility and Driver Requirements

  • The primary driver must be at least 21 years old (or 25 for certain vehicle categories like SUVs or luxury cars) and hold a valid driving license recognized in Sri Lanka.
  • For international visitors, a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) is required along with the original national license.
  • Domestic license holders must ensure their license is valid for the vehicle type rented.
  • Additional drivers must meet the same requirements and be approved by Sheron Rent A Car at the time of rental. An extra fee may apply.
  • The renter must provide valid identification (passport for foreigners, national ID for locals) and proof of address.

3. Booking and Payment

  • Bookings can be made online via sheron.lk, by phone, or in person.
  • A reservation requires full details of the renter, including contact information and payment method.
  • Payment must be made in advance or at pickup, depending on the booking type. Accepted methods include cash, credit/debit cards, or bank transfer.
  • All prices include VAT, basic insurance, and applicable taxes unless otherwise specified. Additional fees for extras (e.g., GPS, child seats) will be quoted separately.
  • No deposit is required for standard bookings, but a security hold may be placed on credit cards for potential damages or fines.

4. Cancellations and Refunds

  • Cancellations must be notified in writing (email or via website) at least 48 hours before the scheduled pickup time to avoid charges.
  • Cancellations within 48 hours may incur a fee equivalent to one day’s rental.
  • No-shows will be charged the full booking amount.
  • Refunds, if applicable, will be processed within 7-14 business days via the original payment method, minus any administrative fees.
  • Sheron Rent A Car reserves the right to cancel bookings due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., vehicle unavailability), in which case a full refund or alternative vehicle will be offered.

5. Vehicle Pickup and Return

  • Vehicles are available for pickup at our Colombo office or designated locations (e.g., airport, hotels) for an additional fee.
  • At pickup, the renter must inspect the vehicle and sign the rental agreement, noting any pre-existing damage.
  • The vehicle must be returned to the agreed location, on time, and in the same condition as received, allowing for normal wear and tear.
  • Late returns will incur additional charges: hourly for delays under 3 hours, or a full day thereafter.
  • Fuel policy: Vehicles are provided with a full tank and must be returned full. Otherwise, refueling charges plus a service fee apply.
  • Mileage: Self-drive rentals include unlimited mileage unless specified; chauffeur-driven rentals have a daily limit (e.g., 100 km), with excess km charged separately.

6. Vehicle Usage and Restrictions

  • Vehicles may only be driven on paved roads within Sri Lanka. Cross-border travel is prohibited without prior written approval.
  • Prohibited uses include: illegal activities, racing, towing, carrying hazardous materials, or overloading beyond capacity.
  • Smoking, pets (without prior approval and containment), and eating/drinking that could soil the interior are not allowed. Cleaning fees apply for violations.
  • For chauffeur-driven services, the driver’s working hours are typically 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Overtime or outstation stays require accommodation provided by the renter.
  • The renter must ensure the vehicle is secured when unattended and report any mechanical issues promptly.

7. Fines, Tolls, and Violations

  • The renter is solely responsible for all traffic fines, parking tickets, toll fees, and other violations incurred during the rental period.
  • Sheron Rent A Car will notify the renter of any fines received post-rental and charge an administrative fee (e.g., LKR 2,000) plus the fine amount to the provided payment method.
  • Failure to pay may result in legal action or reporting to credit agencies.

8. Limitation of Liability

  • Sheron Rent A Car is not liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental damages, including loss of income, personal injury, or property loss, arising from the use of our vehicles or services.
  • We are not responsible for items left in the vehicle upon return.
  • Force majeure events (e.g., natural disasters, strikes) excuse performance under these terms.

9. Privacy and Data Protection

  • Personal information collected during booking is used solely for rental purposes and protected in accordance with Sri Lankan data protection laws.
  • We may share data with authorities if required by law.

10. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law

  • These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka.
  • Any disputes arising from this agreement shall be resolved through negotiation, failing which, exclusive jurisdiction lies with the courts in Colombo.
  • If any provision is found invalid, the remaining provisions remain enforceable.
